Default Trickflow pushrod length checker, anyone use it???

I borrowed one from a friend. I went to the site to get the instructions and its based solely on wipe pattern? Then I add preload to that? I have a 2003 LQ4, stock heads, LS9 head gaskets, Manley duals and a custom grind comp blower cam I got from a member on here, and I am unsure of the base circle of the cam. It doesnt say anything on the instructions about doing the measuring from the turns of the checker. I am not to excited about doing this on wipe pattern. Has anyone used this?

typical base circle on a stock cam is about 1.53. Base circle on all aftermarket cams I have seen has been about 1.48. About 0.050 smaller for non-stock cams. I measured for my pushrods today using the adjustable checker. Call me if you have any issues, I got it figured out

From this information, does this mean a set of heads could be milled .025 and the pushrod length would be "dead on"...or doesn't it work like that???

I didnt like the trickflow checker, never used it. I ordered the comp cams checker that 99.98% of the people use on here. After using it now I know why

Yes it appears that with stock cams diameter being .05 smaller then a .025 longer pushrod is in order, if you milled the heads .025, then stock length pushrods should be dead on. Not stock pushrods, stock length pushrods.

Sounds like the instructions are for a stud mounted setup. Pushrod length won't set the wipe pattern. Set that with shims then measure for pushrod length. Don't use the instructions on a shaft system such as the LS1 rocker.
