Default cam damage...big time.

well my motor let go a while back broke a valve spring, piston meet valve, cracked the cylinder wall/sleeve and then broke the rod.

well today I pulled the cam not expecting to see this...the lifters and push rods look 100% fine...I don't understand how this damaged occurred?

Looks like that cam was used as a hammer before it was installed.

The same thing happend to me. Broken valve droping in cyclinder, hamming in between piston and block. Long story short, total lose. Look at the bright side, time to upgrade. Good luck with you're next built.

oh yeah I knew everything else was busted but to damage the cam I just didn't think how it would happen.

I bought a GN parts car with a blown engine (threw a rod). The cam was busted into 3 pieces and the rearmost part exited the block and was jammed into the flexplate so hard it was bent to a 45° angle! Loose parts inside a spinning motor are a no-no...

Yeah, but I'm vacationing in Colorado right now and those pix were "before digital" and are home in a drawer somewhere. I'll try and remember when I get home...
