thats an awsome cam, i was thinking of doing the same cam , installed straight up, but i went agaist it....

I would go with a good porter/company that can work with you and has had good results, i would recommend Jay from absoulute, best for the money and has excellent results , and of coarse joe prince, but havent heard much from him recently!

Lift is excessive.

This profile has 5 degrees of overlap at .050. A bit much to pass the CA sniffer.

What are you a smog tech? LOL

The bulk of the power of this cam is from 4K-6500rpm. It will make a little less power then stock under 2K rpm & more from there on up.
It was designed with stock heads in mind.

What you need here in Cali is a cam with negative overlap at .050. Until I get feedback on one of my 'smogable' cams that's been tested I stay safe at -4 to -3 degrees of overlap at .050. This makes the cams sound damn near stock, but they still perform quite well for their size.

Of course a cam swap is not real hard on these motors (once the valvetrain is already beefed up) & there are no gaskets to buy.....& if you buy a cam you'll have the stocker sitting there in a box. Just swap it out every 2 years!
Longtubes are much more of a hassle come smog time then a cam IMO.

i thought about that, i got the tr230 now, but im pretty sure its not gonna pass. i was gonna keep it and swap every 2 years but im looking at a 224 112 now, with a good tune that should pass clean. then i'll all have to due is swap my new duals out.
