Has anyone shortened their oil dipstick and tube?
Well, curious as if anyone shortened it, seems to be in the way a lot and would be a little easier for valve cover access etc...
Measure tube, cut it down to size, remeasure, then cut and mark stick?
Thanks.
Charlie.

I shortened my dipstick on my truck .. but it wasn't on purpose. I pulled the tube and all out and it brushed against the starter. Spraks flew, I jerked the dipstick up, more sparks flew, and the last 3 inches of it was missing. As I was looking at the end of it, more sparks flew. It was rather eventful.

LOL ... I went to the dealer a couple days afterwards to price a new dipstick. I told her what happened, that I pulled it out and hit the starter, I didn't mention it was while installing headers or it was the whole tube I was pulling and they replaced it under warranty.
I bet that brought a new meaning to 'spark' plugs.
