Exclamation Cam Swap Questions.......

I am hoping to do a cam swap in the near future and need to decide whether to do it myself or pay someone to do it. I really want to do it myself but the only thing holding be back is the lack of a valve spring compressor, mostly to get to the back ones. Where should I look for one that will make the whole job easy. Or maybe I could borrow one from someone? Any ideas/expiriences would be great. Thanks!

The Tool section has a nice thread on the valve change tool.

Don't let the lack of a spring compressor keep you from doing it yourself. It's not too difficult, but can try your patience at times. My dad made up a spring compressor just like the one Dale linked to and it worked liked a charm.

Dude, do it man. That spring tool is awesome. I had used two of the OTHER custom LS1 Spring tools and they were not good at all, the sucked. Made me think about doing anymore, but tried Larry's and hell, this is a no brainer tool that kicks azz. Do the swap man.

do the swap man, you know you want to. what ever you do dont even **** with that autozone cheap *** too . dont make the same mistake i did . im using the SDPC tool now and will probably pick up the larry tool for the rear springs. springs arent bad if you have the right tool, its when you dont that you wanna go out and kill the person who made the ls1

Making a valvespring tool is very simple. Also you can even buy one from AutoZone or somewhere and jack cut off the huge pointless handle on it.
