Default What Heads?

I finally got a good 6.0 truck block i am looking into a carbed performance build with some n2o i was wonder what you guys think about heads i am relatively new to the ls engines all i know is that my current small block keeps getting smoked by them anyways i have the stock alum. truck heads but after looking into gmpp i see the ls3 l92 heads are rectangle port and says they out flow the others and they are good price or should i have my heads ported

l92 heads all the way! extremely great bang for your buck value. They put out serious flow numbers and have great results. Especially since you will be carburated and will have a single plane intake. You would have to get some serious port work done to get your current heads to run on par with the stock l92 heads. and if you start looking at the ported l92 heads, there is almost no comparison. as you can tell i'm a little bit biased. look into the cnc'ed l92 heads from texas speed (they are a sponsor on here).

How much power are you looking to make??
If this is going into an '87 4x4, I would seriously consider the stock heads with a "competition" valve job and polished ports/bowls (not ported). This will help your torque (with the smaller ports), especially lower rpms...to get the heavy 4x4 moving. Again, if this is a 4x4, definitely go dual plane intake for more torque. They are suppose to have an L92 dual plane soon, if you are set on those heads.

I guess i should have specified that my use for this will mainly be 300ft sand drags and a fun dune toy it is 4x4 but is all fiberglass my trans is a 350 with a brake so low speed torque is really not an issue thanks for input on both but i think i am gonna look into the l92s more

L92's all the way. The key with them is the right matching cam as they have very different characteristics than the earlier LSx heads. There is a good read in the Gen IV internal section you should search.

L92s and a Victor intake would be the way to go for that...in my opinion.
