Default Alright cam time....but what timing chain?

Alright so im looking at doing a reverse split cam and everything i need with it TR 230 - 224 111 LSA ....

On top of the timing chain question im faced with a couple of choices here....

Patriot gold valvespring
Patriot extreme valvespring (add $20)
Comp 26925 Spring kit (add $100)
Comp 26926 Spring Kit (add $180)
Comp Cams 26921 Valvespring (add $250)

Do i need/want any of these additional valvespring options? im pretty new to cam research...

Also the searching ive done has yielded that i should upgrade atleast to an ls2 timing chain because the ls1 timing chain has some slack in it.... any reason i should upgrade to these adjustible timing chains or double roller timing chains?

Sorry just jumping in to internals here...

+ 1 on the LS2 chain. I just went ahead and got the whole LS2 timing set. Yank was running a special at the time and I got it for 63 dollars shipped....

LS2 chain with gears will be fine. Patriot extreme will work, but it depends on what the lift is of the cam. Anything over a 600, I'd recommend dual valve springs. I'd look into a HD oil pump as well and UD pulley.

Ls2 timing chain.. Regardless of cam I would recommend dual springs, no reason to have to go back in 6 months and replace one. Or worse something fail because of a crushed/failed springs. 100$ more isn't anything for peace of mind IMO!

Yes Lemons has a good point on the springs. As far as the LS2 timing chain, buy the set with the gears included. Check with Yank, a sponsor on here.

The TR230/224 has a lift of .575/.563, so it doesn't need dual valve springs, but like others said, why not get it done for peace of mind. I'd personally go with Patriot Gold dual valve springs and an LS2 timing chain. You might also want to throw in a ported LS6 oil pump while you're in there.

I would run PAC 1518 springs. They are a behive so they are lighter and nitrided so they last longer. They are rated for .650 lift. Set them up at the correct installed height and you wont have to change them for a loooooong time with a cam that size.........
