Fastest Ramp & Highest Spring Pressure for Stock Lifters?
Fastest Ramp & Highest Spring Pressure for Stock Lifters?
When do you need to say when with the stock lifters?
How much spring pressure?
Fastest ramp rate? XE, TR, MMS, XE-R, or mild Solid etc?
Is the 215 solid roller based intake lobe on a TR Old Man cam too much for stock lifters?
Is a 230 XE-R too much?
Is a 236 XE-R too much?
Oil weight ie 5w-30 vs 10w-30 vs 10w-40 have any effect on lifter collaspe?
I need help with this as my Camaro's engine is coming apart and I can upgrade to what's needed. The MAX cam I'd ever consider is a TSP 231/236 but a MMS229v2.1 is probably what I'll go with.
Thanks

Your probably right no cut & dry answer...my valve train is noisy..but seems ok...lifters aren't collasping etc...it was checked.
However, I may go with bigger XE-R ish cam on my new project and I don't want over do it on cam selection for the stock lifter.
Anyone else care to chime in?

Max Seat Pressure for Stock Lifters

"Comp 987s are the MAX (almost too much) spring you want to run on stock lifters. Anything above that (ex: Comp 977) WILL need a high performance (ex: Comp R) lifter."
"987s have a 130lb closed seat pressure and a 325 open pressure.
150 with 1.7s and 140 with 1.8s will tend to bleed down one or more of the lifters resulting in a lot of individual lifter noise. I’ve done a lot of testing with too-stiff K-motion spring. Chris"
