Default compression versus flow?

So, I have an LQ4, the Painless kit that includes the wire harness, computer, and comp 222/224-112 cam, and the car has LTs, ORY, TKO500, '00 LS1 intake, and I have a choice of heads. I'm at 4500' elevation.
I can run milled 5.3 heads, give up some airflow, and have a decent effective compression of 9.98:1-10.21:1, or I can give up compression and gain airflow with milled 241 heads, putting effective compression down at 9.31:1-9.51:1. I think that would let me run regular unleaded, but cheap gas isn't the goal. Best acceleration is. A better intake manifold will have to wait.
So, those who have experience with going from virgin 241s to virgin 5.3 heads, please help me decide which. TIA
