Default head milling

how much can a set of 853/241 heads be safely milled. i need a head in the 60cc range. am i better off to go w/243 heads instead and mill them.

how much can the 243s be milled to get my compression up. have a 5.3 w/862 heads(stock) ls1 cam and carbed

You will have issues getting the intake mating up with heads with that much milling. Each .007 will take you down about 1cc so that is a lot material on a 66cc head not to mention the PTV issues it will prolly bring...

243's are 64cc and will work much better.....

edit:The 862 heads are stock 5.3 heads and are 62cc heads so not much milling to get them down to 60cc. They have smaller valves than the LS1 castings but are not needed if the are going on a 5.3 motor.....

so if i go243 heads, how much milling can i safely do to up my compression w/o problems. iplan ongoing with a bigger cam also in the future, but not so big that ihave to go w/a bigger stall than my current 2400. any ideas on what cam??
