Stay with cam i have or ????
I have a MS3 cam and waiting for money to buy the rest of my cam swap parts but i keep thinking that the ms3 is going to be to big for my set up. LS6 intake, 243's and PS long tubes, ory, ss3600, and all suspension work. I just feel that i might have a better over all set up with alittle smaller cam like a F-13 or El-torro or something that size. I am not gunna have money any time soon for a fast intake set up or better heads. So any input from you guys would be great. I would hate to have a crappy set up and get smoked by a smaller cam car for that reason!!! Thanks

Although the ms3 may not be the perfect cam for you , its definantly not too big. Its a proven performer. Many people have gone fast with the ms3 under factory heads and intake. keep in mind to reap the full benifits of it , its going to want to see some rpm. Arp rod bolts are definantly a good idea. May need some more gear out back depending on what you have. You'll have to check duty cycle on your injectors as well if your still on the factory ones to make sure your not maxing them out. Also you didn't mention drivability of your set up. Thats something to consider as well. A smaller cam better suited to your exact set up may produce simular E.T.'s as well as drive better on the street.

If you were having second thoughts then I would hit the drawing board again and rethink what you want to do. The above about talking to Geoff at EPS is probably where I would start. If you have to sell that MS3 cam you know its going to be as hard as trying to sell candy to kids. There are probably 300 people looking in the classifieds right now and 291 of them are waiting for an MS3/4 add to pop up.

I have pretty much the same setup as you. LTs, LS6, and SS3600. I just did the 228R from TSP and I love the cam. Makes power all over and driveability is better than when I had the Hot Cam. The thing idles steady at 800 rpms. I don't drive the car everyday but I could and it wouldn't be a headache. just my $.02

i dont have to ms3 in yet, i got it from a bunch of friends as a bachlor party gift, but i just dont feel that i have the right set up, like you say get a bigger stall and it would be better with a fast 90 and i just dont have/or want to spend that kinda money on all those things, i would rather get a cam that is more suited for the rest of my set up. Any body have any thing else or suggestions???

If this is your daily driver, you should probably go with your gut and consider something smaller.

I dont dd the car, it gets driven on nice days, pretty much on the weekends only, i of course go to cruises and stuff like that. I drag race once or twice a month maybe at the track and will race any other fast car stop light to stop light. I only put 1,500 miles on the car last year. I dont wanna keep going back and changing stuff i have already done either, like a convertor. I want to be able to hop in the car and go on a 6-7hr trip if i want to also, so thats why i am having second thoughts on the ms3. I know that when racing your in the high rpms but most of these cams i am looking at that are just alittle smaller offer same rwhp and better tq but do it all over the curve not just above 4,000 rpm like the ms3 and i dont have to spin to 7k to make peak when i could spin to 6,400-6,500rpm and make almost as much. Any more help??

I was in the same delima as you when I was trying to decide. I am glad I went with the 228. I don't think you will be disappointed with it. I do the exact same thing with my car. don't dd but want to be able to hop in and go. race it every now and then and go to my folks house to visit 3 hrs away if i want.

I would think somewhere in the 228-230 range would be good for what your looking for. I have a 228/232 with about the same set up as you, and love it. cam pulls really hard and has great drivability.
There is a member on here with the same cam he made around 420/390 with that cam/stock heads. Ran high 11's w/ a 6 speed and full weight. I think his screen name is TORCHD02TA he has a couple vids of it posted running at the track.
