Default H/C questions

ok guys so i have some last questions on parts for my very mild head and cam swap so ill get right to it

1.is it ok to use the later mls head gasket on my 2000 ls1?

2.which is better for my build ls6 ported oil pump or just the stock ls6 one?(i can port it if i have to)

3. can i get just a ls2 chain from texas speed or the timing set?
or even an in motion ls1 or ls2 timing set? wgich is better and what do i have to do for a double roller set up?

thanks for the help guys!

btw im usein ported 853s(see sig) and a 02 ls6 cam.

You can just throw on a ls2 timing chain from texas speed.

I ordered a HV melling oil pump 10296 from Jegs, but you should be fine with a stock ls6. Porting is not completely necessary, especially if a "very mild" setup

not sure on the gasket though..

To answer questions 2&3. A ported oil pump would be better IMO. Espcially if your running higher RPM's. They are relatively in-expensive from Texas Speed. As for the timing chain, an LS2 or double roller would both be good. the ls2 chain has thicker links in it and wont stretch as bad. I run the double roller and had no problems with the install. Up to this point haven't had any problems with it. If you buy the ls6 pump and double roller it comes with the necessary spacers to clear the chain. You could always call TSP and they can give great advice also.

When I got my LS2 chain from NAPA I got both sprockets. Never used them though.
If I remember right it was like $85.

Ported LS6 pump, LS2 chain, and GM MLS gaskets, thats it! Trust me, the infromation that I've gathered comes from extremely reliable sources and I'm sure someone on here can chime in, The aftermarket for LS cars can be overwhelming but alot of stuff thats manufactured and marketed is overkill for a setup like yours. Good Luck
