breaking in the motor after h/c swap
I did h/c, 42# injectors, walbro 255, and katech rod bolts. Wondering if i should just take the car to the dyno and let the guy tune it since it is dumping tons of fuel or switch back to the stock injectors to get some drive time and easy break in miles?? Only talking about doing 100 miles or so if i do switch injectors. Will the car be fine just to trailer to the tuner and get dyno tuned right away? Only thing i have done so far is started it, ran it to operating temp. shut it down, it sat over night and i ran it some tonight, maybe up to 160 deg. or so just to pull it out of the garage to clean some. The car wont idle of course with out my foot on the gas all the time and i dont want to get to much fuel in the motor/oil. What do you guys think i should do???

If you haven't changed the bearings or rings, there is nothing to break in except maybe a few heat cycles. The only thing new in there would be the valve springs and the cam journals.

Wait, your tuned for stock injectors and you're thinking of driving to the tuner with the 42# on there? No way would I do that. Dump WAY too much fuel.
I would either put the stockers back on there, drive to the tuner and put the 42# on there, or just tow it to the tuner if he is not far.

No way to know if it's overkill without knowing the details. It's not uncommon for an aggressive 346 to need that much injector though (or in that range anyway).

First i will be trailering it where ever i deside to go for the tune, i did the walbro 255 and 42# injectors because i know i will be upgrading stuff later on and just figured better to buy **** once than be another guy on here selling a set of to small of injectors. I also had made a post in the fuel section asking about what people thought I should do for injectors and they said 36# would be ok but once i deside to put on better heads and maybe spray later on that the 42# would be better and allow for more power later on. But back to what i was talking about with the break in, i just didnt know if i should go easy on it with the new rod bolts and stuff and put a couple miles on it before beating it up on the dyno? Sounds like i got my answer though, take it to the dyno, get it tuned and drive it like i stole it. I have only ran the car alittle bit and knew it was dumping fuel when i can see the cloud of smoke behind it. Any one else have any more info for me? Any good places to get tuned in SE Michigan?
