Debating between lq9 or lm7
Sup guys just wanting to know different opinions for my future swap project. I'm debating between a 6.0 or a 5.3. The 6.0 has the obvious displacement + and I think they cost less than a 5.7 ls1. The 5.3 is a lot cheaper and more plentiful. My actual debate is to whether to pick up a 5.3 and bore it to a 5.7, change/bore heads and change cam to where with the 6.0 I would just do a cam and valve train. Looking to get around 350-400hp. Also wanting to mate it with a t56. Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Made 400 rwhp with a smallish Predator Z cam (still on PAC single beehives), bolt ons, and an LS6 intake. Stock, untouched 317 heads.
Through a stalled 4L60E. In Arizona.

Okay as I just found out on freight shipping to hawaii is pretty outrageous and the ones I've spoken to on ebay do not ship here. So my best bet is to search here in local yards. I've located a 5.3 but no 6.0 as they are harder to come by at the bone yards. So now things have been narrowed down for me, instead of boring a 5.3 what would be the best set up? I'm planning on getting a ls6 intake, cam for spray, but what would the best heads be? I've heard l92 or ls6 ported were they way to go but just open to others opinions.
Thanks

If you REALLY can't get an LQ engine out of any Escalade/Silverado/etc. a fair amount of people throw boost at their 5.3 motors. Personally, I wouldn't bother. Just wait until you find an engine that you REALLY want. From how it sounds, you would be settling on a motor just for the sake of it, and that doesn't seem right to me.

thx. i didnt mean to hijack, its just that im buying a 2wd silverado ss at the end of the year and id love for it to make some power. i dont want to supercharge it and the STS turbo system is expensive. so ill proly just drop a nice cam in it and spray a 150 shot. should last a while that way i guess. thx for the input!

What would be a decent set up for the LQ9? Just wanting input vs on what I plan since wife approved to just get it shipped and get it over with.
-FAST intake
-cam (spec unsure yet but any advice would help)
-heads either milled and resurfaced or aftermarket l92
Being this, what would i be looking at to the wheels?

Cheapest route for an LQ9
-LS6 intake
-243 heads
You are essentially building an Iron Block LS2, but the LS6 intake flows more air. If you have the $$$ for a FAST, go for it.
A relatively mild cam in the 224 to 230 range should get you 410-420 to the wheels with the LS6 manifold, supporting mods (exhaust) and good tune. More if you are lucky.

LQ9 for sure! The extra bore size opens up more airflow on whatever heads you decide to go with, and the extra displacement and flat-top pistons will give you some extra compression possibilities that is nice for power too!
