Default How many miles before dyno runs?

I only have about 2 miles on my car now.
Jay is going to put another 30 miles on her in the next day and heat cycle the engine/valve springs a few more times.I know the rings wont seat immediately but how long will it take before I can put it on the dyno?

I figure 60 to 80 miles max varying the rpm to 4000 and then letting it decel to seat them? Then give it a new filter/oil and blast it on the dyno to finish the ring sealing.Remember my shortblock isnt a stocker,Its setup alittle loose...

Opinions?

I heat cycled the springs a few days put about 500 miles on it, changed the oil and had it tuned which took 11 wot runs to get it dialed in.

Upon completion of my motor assembly, my motor was primed and put directly on the dyno.

I'm with you there too Mike.....started,checked fluids and check for any leaks. I then changed the oil and on the dyno for some ring seating and wot pulls she went.

Oaky then....
About 40 miles of varying the rpm and letting off with one oil change is all thats gonna be required and then its dyno time

Thanks.....

You know what they say, cars run like you break them in. It requires cylinder pressure to seat the rings good. The exception to the rule is springs, they need some heat cycling. If you get on it do it in 2nd or 3rd then let off the gas and let the engine slow you down to suck some oil for the rings.

... this is exactly how the motor in my sig was dynoed. Installed motor, started up, ran to operating temps, changed oil, WOT blast in front of the shop, and then on the dyno it went.

Mines coming from assembly first runs will be on engine dyno before going in car,
Tuning for part throttle gives better results on a engine dyno compared to chassis.

Like I said,I'm heat cycling the engine about 2 or 3 times. Then 30 or 40 miles with varying rpm and letting off,and then a oil change and down to Cartek for a tune...

Thanks
