Default Banging noise, during hard 1st to 2nd shift

I wasnt real sure where to post this. The car is pretty much stock as far as mounts go. I get a bang when I shift hard from 1st to 2nd. Are these cars bad about motor mounts going bad? I have had the TA mount and trans mount out and they are fine. I dont know where its coming from unless the engine is hitting something. Everyting is good and tight. I may stick a jack under the oil pand and jack the engine up a little to see if there is movement in the motor mounts.

Where is it banging at? Can you feel it right under your feet? Could be the exhaust hitting the bottom of the car, which could be from bad motor mounts. (that is, if you have your exhaust done) Just a thought.

Header collector/ y-pipe banging. It'll happen with good stock motor mounts.

No headers or Y pipe. Stock exhaust. I dont think the TA is bent i have had it out and seems to be straight. Are the motor mounts the kind with fluid in them or are they just rubber?

It almost sounds like its underneath me.

have a friend get in the car put it in drive, put his foot on the break and give it a bit of gas while you look underneath to see if the motor is torquing over a lot. if the banging is coming from like the center console area probably the motor mount. This is how I found my problem, so Ill be ordering some mounts this winter to fix it in the spring.

Car is a 6 speed but I have thought about trying that. Are they prone to go bad on these cars? Are you going with stock or the poly type?

I just bought a set of poly motor mounts, trans mount, and a Spohn adjustable tourqe arm that comes with the poly mount as well. That should take car of it. What do you think?

I checked the trans mount and it was still together, but I could deflect it with my hands. The way its made though it doesnt have to move much to be metal to metal contact.
