Default Honing an LS1 .010

From what I have heard you can hone a 99-02 LS1 .010 over without sleeving. However I have heard you can not bore it. Why is that? Does boring put too much stress on the cylinder walls? Honing actually increases the chance of creating a warped/out of round cylinder compared to having a cylinder bored out.

Boring is meant to take out a lot of material, like going from a 3.99" bore to a 4.130" bore. Honing doesn't and is more ideal for taking out smaller increments, like .010" and is mandatory after boring a cylinder out anyways to get a crosshatch for the rings to seal against.

I think the machinist operating the hone is more important to getting the cylinders round rather than the differences between a bore and a hone.
