Default Heads help

i have a comp cams tr224/224 .563 and i was thinking about putting either the stock heads from the 5.4L ls1 truck or the LQ9 heads, would i benefit from these? which is better?

p.s. i plan on tuning my car for the cam, heads, and nitrous

I think you are referring to the LS 5.3L truck heads. I would strongly recommend that you not put either the 5.3 "STOCK" or the 6.0 "STOCK" heads on your car. The 5.3's have small valves which will do more harm than any good that the compression bump will ever give you. The 6.0 flows the same as the LS6 but you will lose compression and therefore negate any help the heads could give. I would look at the sponsors on the right for a cheap set of 5.7's or 5.3's that have been milled to bump compression, your cam is not so big that clearances would be a big issue. TEA, Aboslute, or PP all have some cheap heads that flow really great and they have numbers to prove that as well. Also they offer those heads in different size valve configurations depending on your needs.

I think a set of Stage 2 ported 5.3's would be just the ticket for to go with your TR-224 cam. I think the TEA 5.3 w/hand finishing or the Absolute 5.3 would be excellent choices. Also PP has a 5.3 that is popular if money is a little tighter. MTI offers a S2E heads that is price competive with most of the others.

Since if have TEA's on my car I tend to favor them as I know customer service is outstanding. Likewise Absolute has an excellent rep for customer service. MTI has been great to deal with too. PP had a thread where the majority of the customers complimented Terry on his excellent customer service too.
