Default LS1 Build

I need to rebuild the motor out of a 2001 Z28. Pistons need to be replaced. I wanted to eventually spray it with a 200 Shot.

I got 5k to spend on the build. What is the total amount I would have to spend to make it a stroker. You guys think I could builld a 408 with that much? Its going to be my dailly driver for the summer time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

With a $5,000 dollar budget you will be pushing it for a 408 stroker build unless you get some great deals

no. you MIGHT be able to throw together a 383 though.

tsp's kit is about the cheapest around.

I got a great deal on my short block and right now I'm sitting somewhere around $8,000 for everything....you could call Texas Speed and do a 383 stroker, then later get an iron block punched out and swap all your parts over.... the only thing that you wouldn't be able to use from the 383 would be the pistons

Damm thanks for the info. I dont think i really need a stroker kit. I am sure I will just leave it same displacement and get forged internals. I will probally get some nice heads and camshaft. I was hoping to have a 450 HP motor before spray.

If your going to be spraying a that much of a shot, I would recommend spending a little more $$ and get pistons that are made of 2618 forged

$5000 for a 383 should be very possible depends on how much labor your shop charge you.

yeah, but look at it this way...money spent at the machine shop is usually the best kind. especially if you trust the shop.
