help and suggestions needed with a sleeper build
So I am starting plans for a new motor for my car and wanted some opinions. First my goal is good power with out a cammed sounding car. I want my car to idel as smooth as possible. My current plans are to have my lq4 stroked to a 408 with forged parts for the s/b. As for heads I was thinking of using ported l92 heads and use a fast 102 intake.I am planning on going 11.5-1 compression. As for cam choice I am still unsure. I was thinking a custom ground with 215-220 duration with. 650ish lift on a 116 lsa. Car will be nitrous assited and am planning on going with a money maker. My goal for power is 700rwhp on the bottle but don't want to have to run a 300 shot to do it. Car is a street car with a m6 not a drag car.
Thanks for any input

Ls3 heads are picky with their cam. I would talk to pat g eps and tsp myself.
700rw with a 408/ls3 top end in an m6 shouldn't be too difficult. I would imagine 500rw capable on motor and then a 200 hit to hit your mark.
I would stick with an ls3 intake myself.. in my eyes for the money its not worth the swap. I'd rather just spray an extra 25rwhp to hit the mark if I had to.

I think your way off on your cam specs
" I was thinking a custom ground with 215-220 duration with. 650ish lift on a 116 lsa."
Definetly gonna need more duration with a 408 and those free flowing heads. The LSA is gonna be one of the main factors in the sound of the cam not the duration.

Cool thanks for the input. Yeah once I get to the point I will have a cam speced out motor would probly want some thing in the 240s for duration. Good to know on the intake it would definitely keep the cost down. This idea has been floating around in my head for a while cause I want my car to be as much of a sleeper as possible and be able to fool a kenne bell cobra or two

You definitely don't want a 240 duration.
Take this example...
Normal heads (stock prc 5.3s AFR etc etc) on a 346.. it will love something like an ms4.
Put something equal to an ms4 in an ls3 and it will run like dog ****, thy don't like huge cams.
You would want something like what a 224 cam is to an ls1. It will make insane power, people have actually made less power with huge cams in ls3s.
You also want to keep the split around 8*s, seems to be the trick.. ie 220/228 and around a 600 lift 113 Lsa.. something like that would do wonders. But talk to a guru, I have limited knowledge with no first hand with a build or research.
I hope I got that through clearly.. on my phone and just typed this up before hitting the sheets. If not I'm sure someone will elaborate before I get back on tom.. or at let give you something to ponder/research on.

Hmm definitely something to ponder. I figured a higher lsa will smooth the idel iirc. Seemed like I remembered lower duration is what they like but I am unsure and is for the reason of this thread.
I am wanting to come up with a plan of attack and have everything planned out so I can meet my goals as close as possible
Thanks for the input guys
