the trex is so close that some cam only cars clear and dont have to flycut, others dont clear and do have to flycut. If youre going to have your heads off you definitely need to measure. If it were me and it comes up close I think I would do it for piece of mind if nothing else. Plus if you are getting your heads milled or are going with aftermarket castings that might have less deck clearance you will probably run into issues. I do know also that texas speed machines some of their heads to move the valve up in the head a tad which will help with clearance but will also lose you a tad of compression and with that big of a cam compression is going to be pretty important

all i can say is since you have the heads off you might aswell check the ptv. if you can do a h/c swap you can check ptv. takes extra time but its worth it over takin advice from someone on a forum that you dont know and doesnt know your exact setup.

IMO if you take the heads off, might as well fly-cut and mill the heads a bit for 11>11.2 SCR range.
If you do not want to fly-cut, then 243/799 castings with stock valves, unmilled and stock gaskets.

I'm thinking about just the cam with valve springs with the stock heads. also headers y pipe and exhaust. I'm going to be taking it to a company so hopefully they look at that.. thanks for advice

Take it from me, I was like "yeah I'll just keep the stock heads on and run that for awhile..." 2 weeks home for RnR and now im regretting not flycutting.. If you even have thoughts or doing a head swap do it.. hell since your there get your intake ported as well and if your thinkin of the nawwwzz, get your injectors maxed out by FIC..

I funds don't rlly involve heads as of right now... and I have a a4. I drag race so ...I.need the auto. and i still got stock rear so don't want to blow it with bigger gears... also I got ls6 intake not looking for nawzz not rlly into that lol so I'm rlly just wondering if I just do cam with the springs will it hurt anything?

Drag is a contest of acceleration, for any street setup, you should look at the torque output and where it lies in your powerband.

That cam would be worthless without gears, a 224 cam could outrun you if properly setup. Bigger cam doesn't mean you'll be the quickest. It will have a heck of a top end though.

TREX best setup is as follows:
11.5:1 compression, 4:10 gears at least, 4400+ converter
You can take stock 243 heads, mill them .050 and back cut the valves and flycut your pistions and you'll be good for about 11:1 which will be fine. As far as gear and converter, if you dont want to go extreme gear or converter you are better of running the raptor. You need to be dedicated to properly run the TREX, if you are not then you'll be wasting money. Predetor is exactly correct, bigger doesnt always mean faster, you have to match for your setup and what you are willing to do to your car. If you have any questions, call TR and talk to Sean, he will be happy to make a better suggestion. Just be honest with yourself about what you are really going to do with the car.
