This is my first ls1 motor, so im looking for some direction in where to go with this build. The car has 236k on it right now. I plan on taking it to the machine shop to get tested and if all goes well i plan to build it, but dont know what all i want to put in it. I want to do it right the first time so i dont have to tear it down again.
I eventually want to boost it, but not for a while so i just wanna stay n/a for now.
I was thinking wiseco pistons, and some sort of cam with other supporting mods. What cam size would be good for a track/street combo. The car will not be a dd but still want it to be driveable on the street. Also what brand cams does everyone suggest? Also what supporting mods with these.
What all should i get and what should i get done by the machine shop, i was thinking just a clean up, testing and get it honed in. Thanks.
Tried to search but couldnt really find the answer i was looking for.
So far
Connecting rods-k1?
Bearings-??
Rocker Arms-ls1
Cam-tsp
Pistons-Wiseco
Valvesprings- Comp cams 26918 beehive
Lifters- Ls7
Pushrods- comp cams high tech one piece chromly
Ls6 Intake mani
Ls2 Timing chain set
Ls6 Oil pump
Added some new things, looking for advice. Thanks.

I would freshen it up with 10 or 20 over pistons, a 224 cam, get yourself a set of 243/799 heads, and ls6 intake and some long tube headers and you will love the car....
Ps if you have an automatic car I would suggest a higher stall converter to compliment your camshaft....also get your stock crank and rods rebalanced as I'm sure after a quarter million miles that something is out of balance...
Good luck man any ?s let me know

sorry forgot to include that it is a m6. It needs all new lifters and valvesprings too im replacing everything, any preffered brands? i was looking at texas performance and saw a couple different options. I eant everything to be able to hold the power of a turbo later on so i dont wanna cheap out on them now.

I would go with GM performance ls7 lifters, bc they don't make ls1 lifters anymore and the ls7 are made to last 100k miles plus...on valves springs I would say go with comp 918s unless you are looking to run higher than a 600 lift cam (you would need to fly it pistons at some point)...also you wanna get hardened chromoly pushrods from comp cams or anywhere else, bc m6 cars are known for bending stock pushrods when you put a 6500+rpm camshaft and miss a shift! That combo I told you should put you in the high 300s in depending on cam and be a fun *** car to bang gears in.

Considering the fact that you're already looking at having the block machined, rods, and pistons, why not get a 383 rotating assembly instead and get yourself some xtra cubes? Texas Speed has a balanced piece that is fairly short money considering the quality of the components and those guys seem pretty sharp.
On the heads and cam front, I strongly suggest that you buy both from the same source so that you're sure things are properly matched. The fellows at Advanced Induction are working on my heads and grinding me a cam right now and are extremely knowledgeable. Phil talked me out of $250 worth of parts that he said I didn't need; guys like that aren't around every corner.

get better springs, pac 1518 or some duals.take your time and research what you want to do before you buy any thing.most boosted engines like to use a alum intake ,so if there is a back fire.you can only hone the ls1 block .010 over.get the cam last, consider a custom cam.look at a 383 rotating assembly from TSP,cheaper then piecing one together yourself.look in the boosted section for more ideals.with more power you will need a better rear and suspension mods to hook up.

yeah im going to try and get the block back together and have it running for a year or so and then look into boosting it, just wanna have some of the supposting mods for it while i tear the block apart though. Im going to look at the 383 assembly now though.
Something I just thought about do I need new rocker arms? Would replacement gm ones be best?

The trunnion upgrade is only $140 and looks to be simple enough to install; mine's sitting in a cabinet at the shop waiting for a me to get a free hour when the boss isn't looking...

Simple. forged 346 pistons and rods with good rod bolts. Cast stock crank, they are good, balanced. ls6 oil pump, mid 230's degree camshaft, stock heads with patriot golds will get you in the hi 10's and more if you take some weight out. Don't forget suspension front and rear. lca's good torque arm, tough rear sway bar. I had a 383 and it was not faster then a decent built 346, 347. And it had good heads.
