Cool UPDATE--Here we go! 98 Z28 LQ4 Swap-- Pics Inside!--Video Added!

Hey guys,

Just wanted to post some pics of my progress with my car. Sorry for the cell phone pics, but they get the idea across.

This is my car. When this pic was taken it had no engine in it, which is why the front end is in the air.

Here's a couple pics of the engine/trans/converter on the pallet.

Hooker 1-7/8 Long tubes

Here is how it sits right now.

Done for the day.

Mods are:
-2007 LQ4 Short Block (70k miles)
-PRC STG2.5 LS6 Heads (64cc)
-TSP 233/239 Cam
-FAST 102 intake
-PTM 102mm TB
-TSP 100mm MAF
-FAST Fuel Rails
-Delphi 44lb injectors
-NKG plugs
-Truck Coils
-Performabuilt Lv2 4L60 (3000 miles & about 15 track passes)
-Yank SS4000 (About 1000 miles & a few passes)
-Moser 9" (not pictured)
-Spohn Solid Motor Mounts
-Spohn LCAs
-Spohn PHR
-PST Chromemoly Driveshaft

I'm sure I forgot a few things... but you get the idea.

Just have to finish getting the injector plugs on there and extend the MAP sensor wiring and she'll be ready to go in. The throttle body pictured up there is not the one I will be using. That is the DBW TB that came on the engine which will be in the classifieds soon. It's a Jantzer 92mm. I have the PTM 102 that will be going on. Needs new bolts, the DBW's bolts were too long.

Thanks man. Funny thing is that it was pulled straight out of the car. No pressure washing or anything. It's just a clean car. I bought it as a roller.

Only thing I'm waiting on is the injector plugs to come in. I hope I ordered the right ones... Anyone know for sure which plug the Delphi injectors take?

On another note, I have a Racetronic's fuel pump and wiring harness on it's way. I'm planning on running the Mufflex Y-pipe with a 4" cutout then reduced to 3" to run into the Flowmaster cat-back that's on the car already. I know Flowmaster's don't flow the best, but I like the sound of them. When I want full power, I'll just open the cutout.

The exhaust parts will be getting ordered in the next day or so.

Which injectors are you using, the older style is ev1 and the truck type are ev6 so you need adapter harnesses if going from ev1 fbody harness to ev6 injectors

All I know about them is that they're Delphi 44lb injectors and that they won't work with the LS1 wiring harness.

Yea you prob need the ev1 to ev6 wire harness Iadapters...check eBay or parts classified on this website to find them cheap...grab one of the injectors and compare its plug to the pic of an ev6 harness to make sure they are right...how much $ do you have in the intake/fuel rail/injectors...just curious

The intake, rails, injectors, and DBW TB came on the engine when I bought it.

Price breakdown:
-Engine (with heads, cam, intake, rails, injectors, and DBW TB), trans (Performabuilt Lv2), and converter (Yank SS4000)--$6000
-Moser 9" w/3.73s and spool (will get replaced with LSD)--$1750
-Hooker 1-7/8 headers--$750
-PTM 102mm TB--$400
-FTP 104mm Air Lid--$170
-FTP Ram Air Kit--$200
-TSP 100mm MAF--$250
-PST 4" Chromemoly Driveshaft--$325
-Spohn Tubular Solid Motor Mounts--$150
-Spohn LCAs--$170
-Spohn PHR--$120

All in all, I have around $13,000 in the car so far. Still need to buy tires for the back, finish the exhaust, get the AC recharged, and get it tuned. I'm expecting to have around $15k in it by the time I'm done with it.

***********
Also, I'm attaching a pic of one of the injectors. It's a pretty crappy cell phone pic, but hopefully someone can tell me what connector I will need.

Yeah, it should leave a lot of Vettes standing too.

I figured out which injectors they are. They're the GM 07+ injectors.

I'm interested to see it too. I'm expecting mid-low 11s... Only one way to find out.

Wildcamaro, I checked the link you posted. I don't think those will work. It only has a plastic tab on one side, then it has a plastic divider thing that goes part way down between the two pins in the injector. I'm not sure what clips they'll take.

Engine is in the car. Just waiting on a few more parts to come in. Also noticed that I'm gonna have to sand down the core support and paint it when I get home. Looks like there's a little surface rust on it. I'm on deployment, so my uncle is putting the car together for me. I'll be home in a week or so, then I'll be able to get the car going. Only things I'm waiting on is the rest of the exhaust stuff, the fuel pump, the injector adapters, and the fuel fitting/hose. It has all been ordered and should be in by the end of the week.

Would it hurt anything to attempt to start the car with the factory tune? Just to make sure everything is hooked up ok... It has bigger injectors, MAF, intake/tb, stuff like that... Maybe for like a 5-10 second idle?

I'm ordering a new radiator support. The one that's on it looks kinda like my uncle went a little primative on it. Oh well, it's gonna have to come off anyways so I can paint the core support underneath it since there's a little surface rust there.

Anyways, on to the pics!!

If your going to try and start it, and only let it idle, I would at least get the correct injector data, and add some idle airflow. Don't try and drive it, but it should idle for a quick second.

I don't have the tuning software. I'll be having someone come over and do a street tune on it on the 28th or so. Just wanted to fire it up to make sure things are hooked up correctly.

Your engine build is near IDENTICAL to what I have in the works.

Did you have the heads milled any? I was gonna go with TSP stage 3 ls6 heads. I don't have the cash for em yet tho.

any idea what kinda power you're going to be putting down out of this thing?

I'm not sure what it will be running. The car the engine was in before weighed 3450#'s and ran an 11.23 @ 116 I think.

I plugged all of the info into Desktop Dyno and it came out to about 530fwhp and 480lb ft. If it runs anywhere close to that, it'll be around 450rwhp with around 15ish percent drivetrain loss. My setup might cause it to read low on a dyno since I have a big stalled auto and a 9". Track times are what I'm looking for.

I'm pretty confident on low 11s. Possibly high 10s with some weight reduction and finishing my suspension/chassis mods. The only thing I need for the rear suspension is shocks and the TA. After that, I'll be working on the front.

The primary purpose of this car is to be a fun street car/my daily. It'll see the track occasionally. The track is literally about a mile from my front door.

I'll continue to post progress pics. Stay tuned. More to come!

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to answer a question.. My heads are 64cc heads straight from TSP. Engine is running a 10:1 CR for now. I actually already have plans to build the LS1 that I have to put into the car. Plans will be to make a 383 out of it and swap the top end and exhaust over, then get a custom cam. That'll be a while down the road though.
