Good point, being close to your builder definitely has advantages, in person conversations can be more effective than swapping emails and pm's.

Give Thompson Motorsports a shot.Kyle seems to be growing in business and
his prices are hard to beat. Ive been waiting to hear about the quality of work from other forum members.
He seems to be doing well.
Anyone got any input?

well.......
I e-mailed thompson motorsports last sunday and i stll havent
heard back.
However i was concerned on the bearings tolerances.
So I was asking a bunch of questions about what all was machined,...
deck height or if any thing at all for one of his "stock" rebuilds.

I havent had a reply as of yet.
I even left my phone number.
He has good pricing, just maybe there is a reason for those "good"
prices

Maybe I will still go with gm performance parts on their longblock
I worry about bearing tolerance , i am known to spin 4k for awhile
going up some of mountain passes up here.

I will update if any news comes up

There is some really good sponsors on this forum that offer built
forged engines. It seems hard to find a reputable stock rebuilder.

Good Luck

Kurt Urban Performance (formerly of Wheel to Wheel) is in the Detroit area
IIRC. He's built several 1-2000 horse LS competition engines and is often
consulted when magazines do LS build-ups.

LME, HKE, and thompson all do good work. Lots of people running thompson motors and have 0 issues. He's probably just busy, try giving them a call.

I am very sorry you did not receive a response from us. I copied your email address on our contact form and sent a reply with a copy paste of your questions at 10:43am on the 30th. I would love to have the opportunity to build your engine so if you would like I can send the info to you via pm or call you and go over it. If not Please PM me your email so we can make sure it is correct on the contact form. I don't want to put your email on the thread to verify, that might upset some privacy issues. Please also feel free to call us any time to discuss any questions you might have.
Thank you,
Kyle

I had a good experience with LME in Houston, and they're right around the corner from LMR. LME deals "exclusively" with LS and Viper motors (though I spotted a 32v in there...) and LME is a sponsor here like most of those mentioned. They treated my 383 like any of the several 440 LSX blocks they were building and the price was still reasonable.

Of course, it would still be helpful to hear where you are...

ERL Performance is also another choice for engine building.
