Default compression test results before head swap

car is a 98 z28 tr230 full bolt on with 153k. i am adding a set of stock 243 heads to the mix to replace the 806's and wanted to check compression before the head swap. here are my results...

1- 190 3-195 5-190 7-195
2- 195 4-190 6-180 8-180

so what do yall think? i am pretty pleased as this motor has 153k miles and i have read much worse numbers on here. factory spec is 200-210 right? i guess i am go for this headswap! just collecting a few more parts.Let me know what yall think of these numbers!!

I would say that is damn good for 150k motor. I wouldn't hesitate to drop some heads on that motor.

Those are good numbers and I would bet the lower numbers are probably from the heads being wore out.
I would atleast have the valvejob freshened up on your 243 heads. Shouldnt really cost more than 200 bucks if nothing needs repalced.

thanks all i was thinking they were pretty damn good for 153k miles!!! i have put the last 115k on the car and i change the oil every 3k so i can attest to what good service history does. When i put in my katech rod bolts the bottom end had a nice golden shine and crosshatching could still be seen in the cyls. the 243 heads i am putting on have only 25k miles so i would think the valve seats should be in good...i think. i may take them to the machine shop just to be tested and checked. so how much of a gain should i expect i've been hearing about 15-30 rwhp.

You should pick up atleast 10 to 15 but with a 3 angle valvejob done properly could make it closer to 20.
