Default Anybody switched from a g5x2 to a smaller cam

Anybody down-sized their cam from a G5X2 to a smaller cam so that it would be more street/strip friendly for their taste?

I'm thinking of getting this cam on stock heads, just woundering if it is too "race only" for factory 3.42's...switching gears is not an option at this point.

My friend has a 230/232 .595 .595 112 and I drive it all the time on the street w/ 3.42's....it pulls so damn hard!

And yes, I have used the search button as well as on the other forums too....so far I have not found anyone who has down sized a cam for daily driving. So if there are some out there let me know your reasons.

It largely depends on your tolerance and description of a street car/cam.

Personally, I don't like anything more than a 224ish duration cam for the street. Works well with stock gears and components. Just an opinion of course.

People around here treat cams like baseball cards. Collect them all.

I did a G5X2 112 on a mild bolt on and stock gear M6 car 2 weeks ago... great bottom end and tons of top end... downside is you really dont ever shift! You would swear that 7000 rpm in 1st gear never actually ended! But its VERY drivable, gets great mileage etc, and with only intake, SLP LTs, cutout, LS6 manifold and a pulley it made 389 rwhp in our *** AZ weather! Oh, and it had 17x11 chrome ZR1s with DRs so we feel its a 400 rwhp car easy once the weather gets better and it drives just like a stock car with a buttload more power Did I mention 350 ft lbs of torque at 2400 rpm?
