Default Most powerful (streetable) cam without notching the pistons?

Okay, I'm sick of having a bolt on car. Freaking sick. Maybe someday I will get a stroker (sig) but I am done waiting. Screw it. Maybe I'll sell it or keep it for the future if I ever get it. I really like the TEA 5.7 heads so I may pick them up. What is a good cam to match up with it? I do not care about dyno #'s, or even e.t's. Only trap speed, I'm staying at full weight. I don't want it to die at stop lights, be hard to start or surge too much. I will install it myself, so notching the pistons is a no go. Will run dual springs. Recommendations?

I recommend FMS or TEA 5.3's and a FMS-9 cam on a 114 lsa. I am a little bias'd though

I would ask Brian @ TEA what he suggests and I would ask Allan @ FMS the samething.

While on the small side these days, I still like the 224 cams either XE-R or the TR. TSP has a 225 that's supposed to be more powerful than the typical 224 but very streetable. If a ~231/237 will fit that might be a reasonable choice too or something similar.

Our 231/237 camshaft will easily fit without notching pistons. With proper tuning, you won't have any driveability problems. I ran this cam in my '02 SS A4 for quite a while with no problems whatsoever. With all of the bolt-on mods, we've seen as much as 414 RWHP with stock cylinder heads. Results will certainly vary with mods. It will typically gain a solid 50 RWHP with stock cylinder heads.

Feel free to give us a call if you have any other questions. We also have a new 233/239 cam that we're getting ready to release that will be killer.

Thunder's cam is .612 lift and that is about the max I would go on stock pistons

Im with Vince call futral for a cam. He seems to have excellent power and streetability out of his cams.

Hmmm, decisions, decisions. What kind of trap speeds are the TSP and Futural cars running?

I'll let you know at the all nighter what I think about my 231/237 cam. Driveablility is damn good and it made some great numbers on the dyno so I doubt I'll be disappointed.

I really like my TSP 231/231. With a set of PP 5.3's I made 395 through an auto w/ 3400 stall. And it is very streetable in my opinion. TSP is a great company to deal with.

How bought TR T-Rex? From what I understood it is supposed to be maxed out for use without fly cutting.

does anyone know the specs of that cam? I would assume the T-rex is bigger than the G5X-3, but I don't know for sure.
