Proform brushless cooling fans?
Proform brushless cooling fans? I wasnt sure where to put this as I didn't see a cooling section..... feel free to move it if i missed it.....
Being I'm turboed, i've been running into "overheating" problems down here in the south during the summer. I say "overheating" because it runs warmer than I like, I've seen 220ish.... not cool. No pun intended.
I Built an aluminum shroud to house the fans, but I wasnt sure what route I wanted to take. I know I want brushless fans but the only thing I saw that looked good was the Deltapag fans, but it would cost me a grand or more for two fans. I don't have that kind of extra cash for those so I was thinking about buying one flex a lite 238 (16" 3000cfm $169) and a deltapag 12" with controller (2100cfm $469 yikes). I accidently came across the Proform brushless fans, but they are too new to find any feedback or reviews on them. Just wondering if any of you guys have tried them yet, Or am I gonna be the guinea pig?

Try them out! Lol... I'm glad they don't make these as pushers because I would have given them a try. I can't fit pullers on mine, even with my radiator stood up. I just bought a couple Flex-A-Lite Wave fans, hopefully they'll work. I'm in Michigan, it never gets super hot here.
me having been into RC vehicles and into brushless technology, I can tell you with certainty that the main benefit is far more power output while using less amps and a motor that essentially never wears out, there’s no brushes to wear and the motor doesn’t get weaker over time like a brushed motor does.
and get this: the controller is like $43!

edit: I see where it’s a manual controller. But the fans are pwm capable when using the third wire.

Look for fans from a volvo xc90, ford escape, chevy traverse etc.FWD SUV E fans that will fit. They are all PWM compatible if you swipe the controller with them as well.
If you want the bling factor, I vote for the DeltaPag setup. I came across them at PRI a few years back, and they had a booth on display with a **** to dial them up. The single fan made my face flabby like I stuck it out the window at 70mph on the highway. I was dumbfounded by the amount of air they could move.

Today will be the test. high is supposed to be 94, so the drive home in extreme traffic will tell me all i need to know. If it runs hot, I'll be ordering the proforms. I reached out to them to see if they would be willing to send me some fans to do a review on.

I would either use 100% water and water wetter or a 70/30 coolant water ratio, or 80/20 depending on your climate.
I don’t know the exact ratio but it’s barely hot coolant in it. It’s mostly water now. I’m at a point where I need a fan upgrade no matter what. There’s an Intercooler in front of the condenser and a trans cooler too.

on lunch right now. Washed the car, let it idle with ac on while I washed and dried it. Now headed to get food, seen 205 then it settled to 203 at the light. Driving a little more in traffic I saw 206. It’s 90f out right now and pretty humid. Yea, it’s getting fans.

why is your voltage dropping? What kind of vehicle?

they sell a separate controller that will vary the speed if you desire. They are also soft start. Doesn’t really defeat the whole purpose of a brushless setup.
