Default I'm paranoid about my LQ9 someone ease my fears..

The add said 50 000 miles...
But the pistons cleaned right off with a cloth and WD40
There were only a couple tiny carbon spots that came off with very little scrubbing. The pistons also say 5 on them.
Here's a pic

Also the drivers side and passenger side heads are different in terms of cleanliness. One side looks fresh and the other is dark and covered in residue.

Am I ok? Is this normal?

Whats the concern? Carbon on pistons is normal, how easy it is to clean off is subjective. As for the heads, are saying the valves are clean and the other head they are not? Or the head it self? I'm going to say most likely the parts are pieced together.

One bank looks clean but used like my LS1. The other head and valvetrain are covered in very dark residue which cleans off. My concern is that the engine might have been bored out or rebuilt or abused.

Pull on rod cap and see if it has GM bearings.

Might have had a blown head gasket or work done on a head at one time....I wouldn't worry about it...I would drop it off at a machine shop to have them look at it and make sure no work is needed (decked, milled or valve job)
