IMO, stick with 1.7 rockers.
You won't have to spin these very far past 6k to max power.
Just order a custom cam from TSP. Specs are: 228(.588")/232(.595") w/XER lobes, 110 LSA an 108 ICL (10* V overlap). Now if that's to much overlap for you then get it with a 111 LSA an 108 ICL (8* V overlap). Either one will sound bad *** and make good power.
For valve springs, PAC 1518 beehives, an new valve seals.

agreed, forget 1.8 rockers, keep stock, upgrade trunions.
228/230 .588/.592 110+4 LSA will fit the characteristics you desire.

Give geoff at EPS a call. Tell him what your goals are and he will set you up. I called him just to ask questions about order a cam kit and he spent about half an hour going over some options. Ended up ordering and I am happy so far but we will see what kind of numbers I make on thursday when i get my dyno tune

Against
228/228 .588/.588 113 LSA
Theoretically my 228 should make more power and earlier in the power band.
