Is the LS3 head the same as a L92 head?

Default Is the LS3 head the same as a L92 head?

I have a 2003 LQ4 short block and a set of LS3 heads-are these compatable? Thanks

Yes, they are compatible. The castings are the same. The intake valves are the main difference, with the ls3's being a tad lighter.

Casting is the same the intake valve is 20 grams lighter. This is a considerable amount.

Wow! 20 grams. I didn't realize there was a 20 gram difference. Have you verified this number yourself, or were you told this? That is a lot of weight on a valve.

Thanks for the info. Hey if valves are lighter would they be limited on spring pressure/cam selection?

The casting is the same # are different. I have had two sets of l92 and both had different # on them. I bought a set of replacement ls3.
I did weigh the valves 109 to 89.

Lighter the valve less spring to control it. I turn mine 7500 with the lunati spring kit and have not had any issues.

This man is dead on with his comments.

L92 has a MUCH heavier valve and needs a MUCH less aggressive lobe to control it.
