Default Arp head bolts or studs?

Just wondering when studs are needed versus bolts in a N/A build with around 500whp with the slight possibility of a small shot down the road?

If you're going to bother upgrading your hardware, I'd recommend studs. Both are likely more than capable of handling what you're doing but I work with aluminum on a daily basis and I can tell you that it does not have great thread wear properties. That alone I think is worth upgrading to studs to prevent possible wear / stripping problems that would arise from being assembled / disassembled multiple times. That's ultimately why I went with studs.

But just so ya know - your bore shape is going to change with the different hardware. At the very least I'd recommend checking your bores for o-o-R and having them honed as necessary to prevent future oil consumption / piston wear issues. Get a torque plate hone and give the machinist whatever hardware you're going to be using in the build. Just my 0.02.

I personally prefer bolts, but studs do have their advantages over bolts.

I do plan on freshening the motor up and hopefully it wil not have to come apart allot!
