Default lq4 block

I found a 05 lq4 block that has been bored 30 over but has been decked on one side more than the other. Not sure how far its been decked. Could this block be useable or is it junk. Guy that has it said the machine shop told him to use head shim? On side that was decked more. So is it still buildable.

Keep looking, that sounds like buying another mans problem. Lq4 blocks are very easy to come by.

Find out what the deck height is on the lower side, could be usable and if it can be had for a steal then it MIGHT be a good deal. Factory heights can be off by .006" or more (the most I've seen personally) so it's not unusual. I would be cautious though for sure, that's not an uncommon problem so I would be leery that the could be more to the problem. Squaring a deck is ~150 or so from most shops that I have seen.

If you own a boat get 50 foot of chain and you'll have a anchor for it.
