Critique my 99 LS1 build up?????????
99 ls1 in my 72 Vega
243 heads stock dual valve springs
ls6 intake
42lb injectors
stock TB
7.4 pushrods
comp cam 236/236 595/595 112 lsa
ls2 oil pump
dual timing chain
rpm limit 6500
MS2 cpu
1 3/4 full length headers
2004r auto
QUESTIONS?
would you do a trunion upgrade?
katech rod bolts? and throttle body?
what do you think it will make hp wise?

The correct way to install the rod bolts is to install them one at a time. The Katech distort the rod just like the ARP. If anything, check your out of round. To fix that, you need to run a .002" oversized rod bearing.
When you resize cracked cap rods, you oversize them .002" to get the bore round again. Clevite has them, PN 1776-P.

The rod resizing is a highly debated subject that I'm not interested in getting into, but if you are only revving the engine to 6500rpm you probably dont actually need the rod bolts but it would be cheap insurance for if you want to rev it a little higher down the road.
I used the Katechs and they say you dont need to resize. Katech has done extensive testing on this and makes engines for many successful race teams, including GM. So I trusted them and didnt resize mine.
Rod bolts dont really help with power capacity, mainly RPM.
I bet you'll make around 370hp at the tire. Depending on your converter it might show less, but should be a really fun car!
