Why balance for new pistons?
My friend hurt the no.7 piston in his Maggie 112 supercharged LS6. His car only has 13k original miles. I would like to just give the cylinders a quick hone/de-glaze and install new standard sized forged pistons. I saw somewhere that some say the whole rotating assy will need balanced with the new pistons. I don't totally get that because last time I had a motor built my machinist balanced my CRANK, then weight matched the rods/pistons. So wouldn't it be fine as long as the pistons were all weight matched? thought?

You mean if the stock pistons I remove vary in weight, just make sure the new pistons vary the same amount? ..like if no.2 piston is xx grams lighter than the no.3 piston, make sure it goes back together the same way with the new pistons? This motor only has 13k miles on it so I was really hoping not to have to rebuild the whole bottom end. Just wanted to do forged pistons and ARP rod bolts to get it back on the road.
