Default Chamber CNC Contouring - Pros/Cons?

I was wondering what were the benefits of having the combustion chamber CNC'd; more specifically deburring the spark plug boss. Better flow at the cost of decreasing compression?

You can make up for lack of flow from heavy head milling, plus with the smooth chamber surface you will have less chance of hot spots and detonation.

That being said I have a set of heavily worked over 57cc 241s on my 408 that I went in and polished the whole chamber face and ports to a mirror finish then dulled back down with 220 grit sand paper to clean upand add flow (the small scratches from a rough surface make little vortecs that increase flow over a completely smooth surface)

Hope that helps!

you could just run 0.040's to compensate for the slight compression loss and call it a day.

..or you could run 0.040's, mill the heads down, and flycut for a much better setup overall. in fact, might as well get the heads completely ported while you're at it. and throw more cam at it
