Smile Stock bottomend HP rating?

Looking to add more power to my LS6 engine. I already have upgraded heads cam and intake. Seriously debating bolting on a Procharger. Will the stock bottom end be able to handle 8psi or do I need to go forged before I add that kind of power?

8 psi, no problem, 10 with meth. Use good fuel and tune it fat. It can be a motor saver on the street.

But just remember once you get use to it again you will want to crank the boost up to make more power.

Will it hold, yes it should, but I'd build my bottom end up first so it could take anything I throw at it later

Or just get an iron block 5.3 or 6.0L from a junkyard for a couple hundred bucks, put your top end on the stock shortblock along with ARP head bolts and throw 12-14 psi at it for good measure.

Good idea there, but make sure to upgrade to ARP rod bolts while you're at it.

I am making 441rwhp now. By bolting on a procharger i should be something around 550-600 somewhere around there. I will be ok with stock internals as long as i dont try to go above 8psi?

Fuel/tune it properly and safe and you should be fine (assuming your motor is in good shape)

OP I'd trust anything Predator-Z said over 99% of anyone else on here. with being said I don't know your heads/cam combo but if your cam has timing advance ground into it and the heads upped your compression ratio that could drastically effect how much boost it will hold. but much more knowledgeable people than me could help you know for sure. Just my $.02

My mods are in my signature. Pretty sure the cam doesnt have any timing adjustments in it. and the compression stayed the same as it was stock.

Look up the "Big Band Theory" that Hot Rod magazine did. Bolted 2 76mm turbos to a 5.3 to try to blow it up. Its a good read on how well the LS platform is built.

Depends on the tune. Make sure you run good fuel also.
