Default Oil pressure to high?

I have a melling pump, old stock pump went out on me not too long ago.
When she's fully warmed up my idle will be around 55psi and pretty much stays there.
See videos online of other camaro's and theyre all around 40.
Is it okay that mines so high?
I use acdelco filters and castrol gtx oil, change every 3k, 10w-30

just a bolt on ls1

The first step is to check it with mechanical gauge.

That's a good oil pressure, about the same as my engine running a melling pump. Should increase with rpms.

You probably bought the 10296? Thats the high pressure pump. As long as you have 10psi per 1,000rpms you are fine. You really dont need more then that but thats certainly not hurting anything.
