best stock cam for lq9 Just picked up a lq9 for my 79 ford Fairmont futura. Looking to build mild street car, no track. 18'" wheels, street tires, 26" tires. 3 or 4 speed auto, 3.23 gears. Lq9, stock heads, ls6 intake, stock rail, injectors, stock tb. 3000 lbs or less. What gains would 02 ls6 cam gain? what gains would gm hot cam gain?

Well it depends on how crazy you want to get…. I wouldn't waste time with either of those cams. I would ditch the stock lq9 heads for some 799's or 243's to raise ethe compression up and then have them ported if funds allowed.
For the cam I would hit up something like a 226/234 113+2 for a ild setup or if you wanted to go a little bigger a 230/234 113+2 would still drive very nice and make a little more power.
