How much slop in timing chain is acceptable??
Pulled my timing cover off tonite for my cam swap and noticed the timing chain seems loose to me. It has 3/8" - 1/2" of slack on both sides. This is a Katech/JWIS chain on the stock crank/cam gears and only has about 6-7k miles on it. Engine has 19k on it total. I don't recall if it was this loose or not when I put it in last year but I wouldn't think this stout chain would stretch much in that few miles. No abnormal looking wear on the chain or gears.
I'm pretty sure it's ok, but can anyone give me some piece of mind here?

Dont worry about it..For some reason they are stupid sloppy and thats just how it is..I changed chains on mine and the new replacement was as bad as the used one.. I am used to the SBC BBC chains that were actually tight so this was new to me also.
