Default hex-a-just vs stock gear diameter

There was a past thread where it was claimed the cloyes hex-a-just gears were larger than stock, so the chain would be tighter. Seems doubtful to me, but has anyone actually compared the diameter of the hex-a-just gears to stock? I'm thinking of just using the cloyes cam gear with stock crank gear.

The physical diameter isn't larger, the teeth of the gear are machined different for less play. I've used a handful of Cloyes timing sets, I like them.
