Comp Cams shaft mounted roller rockers???
http://www.compcams.com/information/...974_Page-2.jpg
Has anyone seen or used this product from Comp?
I知 trying to decide on what rockers to use for my cam swap. I知 probably going with the G5X3 and 918 springs.
I originally selected the Pro Magnum roller rockers from Comp, but I want to make sure I get a setup that can handle this cam and a larger one at a later time if this one isn稚 cutting it.
Anyway, what痴 the general opinion on this rocker system?
Thanks!

Before the rockers. 918's are not what you should use. You'll need duals like Comp 921 or PP "Gold".( good to .650 lift)
Call Lou at LG to match all your components for he alone knows the exact specs of the cam (Which is above .600 lift for sure)
Harland Sharp 1.7's are great for your set up and are only $320 at TSP or $345 at Nasty Performance.

You will definatly need more spring for that cam. And yes the Harlands work great for your setup. I can price match those rockers for you and I have them in stock.

You can get our complete Patriot "Gold" .650 dual spring kit with super 7 locks, titanium retainers, bases and seals from any of our distributors, (there are a few who are sponsors of this site) for $295.00.

comp shaft mounts are NICE!!!!!!!!!!!
I first ordered the Comp ProMags but decided if I ever want to go solid roller I would want shaft mount anyways so I sent the ProMags back and they credited them towards the shaft mounts.
now for the "fun" parts:
- they WILL require valve cover spacers or tall valve covers
- they WILL require clearancing of the pushrod hole
- they WILL require clearancing of the head at the back of the rocker
to sum up:
I like them A LOT. I guess doing it again I might have just spent the extra $200 for the Jessle but then again I don't see there would be any gain in my aplication. The Comps are made by T&D so you are getting T&D rocker with Comps name on them for the same cost.
For 99.99999999999% of people the shaft mounts are WAYYYY overkill. The comp promags are the most I would tell a person to go with. If you have Comp R lifters,m they will require an adjustable rocker so go on ahead with the promags.

No way, what are the 918s rated to? A fellow staff member broke a 918 with much less lift than the X3 with only 10k miles on the springs, and then you add the 1.75 rockers and its going to mulitply the lift even more making it >.625 lift for one of the lobes..... Theres no way I would trust a single spring that has had numerious breaks with MUCH smaller cams.

Yes... I dont need adjustable ones because I'm not using Comp-R lifters... The Jesel look a lot better than the sharps, but I'm still looking into my options.
I plan to do a lot with this engine so I need to pick components that will hold up to what I have now and maybe more.

thats the problem..you have said numerous breaking springs..thats where you are wrong carl..there haven't been ANY blue stripes breakages..I run the 918's on very large XER lobes..and those lobes are XER or less agressive ones..EVERYONE knows very little about the 918 spring..most of all of it is rumors and here say
brian
p.s. you do remember who I am correct?

However let me point out that the "problem" 918 should not have been put on the market in the first place so Comp Cam quality service and R&D left to be desired on that issue.
Very few poeple know the G5X3 specs and I for one would never run a single spring on such a big cam. Comp 921's yes. The additional safeguard that a dual provide by just being a "DUAL" is enough to convince me. Single spring failure at 6800 or 7000 rpm is disaster. Duals "usually" tend to break the inner spring upon failure, leaving at least one other coil to hold the valve

Comp does more R&D on springs than ANYBODY..even ford, chrysler, or gm..one of the very first batches had a wire issue, there are still plenty of non blue stripes running out there without any problems. After that Comp made sure that the 918 was made from the best quality materials possible..the 918 is THE best selling spring on the LS-1 market and it's used in other various applications everyday. The beehive style spring will out perform a dual spring any day. Weight, harmonics,dynamics......and still be just as durable

But aren't the 918's still only rated for .600? I'm confused I thought thats what I'd been reading.

Actually they are good till .625
We are not saying they wouldn't work, but it is safer to run a dual. If a dual breaks there is less chance of catastrophy, and a better prevention of PV contact than if a single breaks.
Since this thread was posted, there has been 2 reports of "Blue stripe" failures.
IMO for none XE-R ramps I would use them but anything close or XE-R range ramp, i'd get duals.
