Default "I" Beam or "H" Beam rods

Which is stronger and best for boost build up?? I see that SDPC sells a set of "I" Crower rods for $435, but all the "H" beam rods are going for $485 and up, so which would be better??? I am tryin to reach a 550-650rwhp application.

Both the Crower and almost any of the H beams will do that for you. The top quality I beams are billets so they are super stout. Most H beams are basicaly the same so name brand is almost a nonissue.

As long as the I beams in question are billets like Crower or Lunati to name a couple. IMO, the I beam design weight wise is stronger, that may be the reasoning behind all of these billet I beams that are out now.

I have found that all H-beam rods that I have seen weights posted for are lighter than I-beam rods that I have seen weights posted for. It appears that for a given strength the H-beams are lighter. Can someone else verify this ??

The Eagle H beams are around 660 grams and the Lunati Billet i beams are around 670 grams. The Eagles can hold around 750 CHP and the Lunati's an hold around 1100.

Eagles are Chinese made and Lunati's are much better quality American made. You need to compare rods from the same manufacturer or you're not comparing apples to apples. Go into a Summit Racing mag and you'll see what I mean. I'm willing to bet that the Eagle rods you posted about are 5140 steel and the Lunati's are much better 4340

I should have clarified a little better though. Of rods that are made by the same manufacturer, out of the same material, rated for the same hp, the H-beam rods seem to be lighter There .... that's better

Sorry about that. I was trying to do a same name company comparison but all I have is Eagle and Lunati books near by and Eagle doesnt make any billets and Lunati doesnt make any H beams lol. I thought it would be a good comparison nontheless because of the popularity of both rods. Also most people think of Eagle or simular type rod(Manley, Scat, Cat) when thinking H beam and Lunati is a pretty popular billet rod. The Eagles are 4340 and the Lunati's are 4340 according to their books.
