Default Split, Reverse Split or Even Split Cam for STOCK LS6 heads?

Im looking for cam to install in a 2003 Z06 which will have the following mods.
TPIS headers with OFF ROAD X-pipe/stock titanium catback
Vara-Ram intake
ASP underdrive pulley.

Most of cam talk on the forum involves stock LS1 or ported LS1 heads in a
F-Body NOT STOCK LS6 heads in a 3200lb car.

I know LS6 heads arent that much different than LS1 heads but does the better flowing ports and different exhaust port design warrant a reverse split cam?

Im looking for a fairly mild cam in the 224-228 duration range.

I was looking at a couple of FMS cams in particular.

FM-F2-114 FMS Custom Grind Camshaft - 224"/224" .588"/.588" 114LSA - aggressive profile with a 1800-6600 RPM range, good idle

FM-F4-114 FMS Custom Grind Camshaft - 226"/226" .575"/.575" 114LSA aggressive profile with a 2000-6600 RPM range, fair idle

FM-F5-114 FMS Custom Grind Camshaft - 224"/228" .588"/.576" 114LSA aggressive profile with a 1800-6600 RPM range, fair idle

FM-F6-114 FMS Custom Grind Camshaft - 226"/230" .575"/.595" 114LSA
semi-aggressive profile with a 2000-6800 RPM range, fair idle

Thanks

When I started looking into cam's, Thunder racing suggested there TR227 or TR230 for what I was looking for. They advised that the TR227 was originally develop for the Z06 cam only set up? There's alot of good cam's out there & everyone has a favorite.

I'd be interested in your stock cam and springs when you make the change. Thanks!!

I have a 6.0L, so slightly different, but I have stock unported LS6 heads. I am running a 228/232 cam. I think it works great for the combination I have. Mine is a custom grind, but Crane has a very similar cam listed in their magazine ads.

There are a ton of Cams out there to pick from.
Personally I would go with a custom grind. My choice would be 224/226 .595/.590 on 112+0 with an off grind. The duration would give good drivability with the lift givving more HP in the higher rpms than a typical 224.

Slowhawk, Thanks for the recommendation. Can I ask why you picked zero advance ground in and a 112 LSA? Would'nt some advance ground in help with some low end power which my Z06 is lacking right now and a 114 LSA help the idle a little? What do you mean by off grind?

The Z06 motor actually has good low end power when it's tuned. The 112 would give better low end than a 114 and it would idle very good with the right tuning. Off grind is not the technical word but I use it for any Cam lobe that is not commonly known. They are inbetween a XER and XE lobe with a slight change in the ramp rate.I'm all about midrange power hp/tq rather than peak #'s..Peak hp #'s don't win races

Hey Don,

That looks pretty damned close to one I just sent out to a customer with stock heads and a spring upgrade...

224*/226*/112* - .571"/.571"

Nice power curve with no spikes...

Hmm I'm thinking something similar on 114+0 / 226/230, .57x/.57x XE lobes for my forged setup next spring.

Like Slowhawk said, tighter LSA will help with the bottom end - mine is on 110 and makes a bunch of torque! Just requires a little more effort to tune.
