how hard is it to take off heads and pull cam on stock LS1 engine
what is involved in pulling off stock heads and a stock cam from a stock LS1 engine that is already out of the car. It is at a junkyard and I just needed to get a stock LS1 block

All you need is a good metric tool set.
Make sure its got 15 & 16mm sockets as well, as a fair few tool sets don't have the 15mm and theres a fair few 15mm bolts on an LS1.
What oil pan does it have?

I did my head swap in my gerage by myself with no power tools, just the tools I got from my dad for christmas, between work and school in 3 days.
Taking everything apart is a sinch, the hardest / most time consuming part is cleaning the deck and the bolt holes

Not sure on the size but you will need a socket to get the crank bolt off so you can pull the pulley. Unless it is alread off. If you know what u are doing it should not take more than 30mins with some power tools. Just go to www.ls1howto.com this will show you how to do it in the car. If it is out is so much easer to break loose the head bolts.

I'm looking at that site now, and it seems they are working with the engine in place but.....how?!
They say "unbolt the heads". Well, great, but have the engine is behind the windshield, so how so you reach anything?
