If you use a shorter compressed height head gasket you would then need a shorter pushrod possibly. I was planning on going from stock gaskets to Mr. Gaskets 0.042 so I would be shorter by roughly 0.01". I have 7.40" push rods that are alredy 0.02 over stock style (7.38).

It would seem that I'm getting closer to needing a 7.35 than the 7.40.

Also When I get my heads re-freshed, I might end up try to get some LS6 valves. I believe with those valves I need shorter pushrods also.
