Default Anyone that has experience w/ the tr230/224

How does this cam: 230/224 .575/.563 111 LSA work for a daily driver compared to a tr224? I know tuning accounts for alot of it. But when both tuned properly, how does the 230 compare?

I have a friend thats had this cam in his car every since it came out. With 3.42's also on a daily baisis. Now he has 3.90's but thats only becasue he broke four 10 bolts(and 3 driveshafts and 2 tq arms) and just got the gears as an option with the 12 bolt, but now hes looking to go back with a 3.42. That should just show the drivability in it. Its a great cam and the only thing that really stops me from getting it is the fact that I want to go bigger.

sounds good ... in searching i see alotta ppl recommend putting gears in to get the full effect of this cam tho. I'm guessing that w/ gears you just get into the power band faster?

I have that cam, it's a little rough below 1500 RPM. I picked up 7 tenths with the cam & UD pully. My car already had 4.11s. My tuner doesn't like it, says I would have been better of with traditional or no split.

drove mine daily before i swapped it out.
with 3.42's it was a little harsh under 1500-1600 rpm the 4.10's solved that and drove awsome . very streetable still got 20+ to gallon and low low 12sec passes cam only . as you already know its mostly in the tuning

I have the TR227 with 3:42's and it works good for me. If I would have done it again I would of used the TR230 (like suggested/but wimped out). I have a VIG3200 & run 11.90's consistance cam only with an LS1 intake.

I had that cam in my old formula ws6 with a mail order texas speed tune, car ran just like stock a little bucking around 1000rpms in gear but other than that it was a great street cam and sounded good too. That cam makes great power up top.I also had 410's

TR230 is a great cam IMO. With some good tuning it will be DD friendly. I went 11.45 with this cam and 3.23 gears.

I had that cam for a year and a half in my daily driver. It is an excellent choice and I think sometimes overlooked with all the huge cams out there now. I had simular results as Danz28 with that cam on a drag radial and 3.42 gears.

ok ... so it'd just be rough in a daily driver sense down low w/ 3.42's .... would i absolutely need the 4.10's to gear it right. or would 3.73's work too?

also ... i've been tryin to read up on both sides of the reverse split debates ... from what i've gathered, the reverse split would be a good decision for my car. I've got the mods in my sig ... i don't plan on doin heads at all down the road. The cam would more than likely be the final mod in terms of power.
