New oil pump and timing chain...
I'm planning a cam swap sometime in the next few months. I've read threads saying to swap the oil pump, others saying it's not necessary. I've got a 01 WS6 with 29k miles. I've also read it's not necessary on 01-02 f-bods with less than 36k. What about once you reach that point, then do you need to swap it out. Also, should the timing chain be changed, or will the original be fine. I'm planning on the F13 for a daily driver. Sorry about the length of this thread and any help would be appreciated.

Put in a LS2 chain. It's only $29. It's not gonna break the bank. As for the Oil pump....It's a tough call, and a personal decision. You should be ok w/o one. But, say you get everything back together, and 3k miles later, the oil pump goes. Now you gotta tear that sucker all the way back down to change out something you were considering changing while you were in there. Just my thoughts.

you've got one of the newer pumps, which shouldn't fail as quickly as the older kind. with the low miles you have on your car, i wouldn't worry about it too much. if its that big of a deal, pick up an ls6 pump from someone off the board(maybe get it ported), or buy a ported one from the sponsors.

Another vote for a pulley when you do the cam swap. I am having a LS6 pump and a LS2 chain put in next weekend. My car is a 98 with 100,000 miles so I think it's a must for me.

I have over 55K on my 01 pump and 3 cams so far, all i usually change is the chain, which i did on the 2nd cam (J-WIS).
Now I would put an LS2, much cheaper than J-wis.
