opinions on TR230/224
I'm thinking of getting a cam, once I fix whatever the hell is wrong with my car right now. I was looking at Thunder Racings website and I came across this particular reverse grind cam. I did a search on the same cam on this website and came up with nothing. Anyone know what it puts down? Also, since I dont plan on doing any forced induction anytime soon, would a 230/224 reverse grind be a better application for me than say a 224/224?

a while back there was a guy that posted in the dyno section with that cam and put down some good numbers ,but as with any reverse split it needs a free flowing exhaust to get the full benefits

I liked my 224/224 better than my 230/224. The single pattern just felt stronger. But when I sold the TR230 to a local guy, after I installed it for him he put down 410 rwhp with stock heads through a M6!

i loved that cam when i was cam only. put down nearly 400rwhp with a very nice torque curve on my car. that was through the 12-bolt and 4.11's.
a while back there was a dyno comparison of the tr224/224 and the tr230/224 and it was very interesting. the tr230/224 followed the tr224/224 dyno almost exactly until the tr224/224 peaked and the tr230/224 pulled a little past it. it was around 5 or 10 hp or so.
so, while you're not going to leave much on the table with the tr 224/224 over the tr230/224, there is a little hp there. however, the tr224/224 drives much nicer.

Here you go.

Thru 3'' duals or a cut-out, that graph would have been even more amazing.

I made 440rwhp/400rwtq 2.5 years ago with that cam and TEA stg. 2 5.3L heads....through a 12 bolt. no EWP, no LSX intake, etc. Streetable 10.8:1 compression and 28 degrees of timing.

Its an excellent cam . I had it for over a year in my daily driven a4. I was even concidering going back to that cam. It made excellent power and Is relatively small by todays standards while still providing a great power. If youhave any specific questions feel free to msg me
