Something hit my plugs
Last night I sprayed 125 dry into my 2000 ls-1. Basically stock, it started "ticking" shortly afterwards. I figured a bent pushrod. Pulled the valve covers, pushrods ok, valve springs ok, rocker arms ok, good compression, pulled the plug and something had hit it knockin the gap out and breaking the plug (it was split). I'm assuming the piston has come apart but it does fine driving after replacing the plug. still ticking but runs good. Anyone else had this happen? What was it? What else could it be? Could it be the lifters? I think it's a little too loud to be the lifters. I don't think it's the rods or crank. Any help wouild be greatly appreciated.
May need to buy some pistons...pm me if you have a set. May also need lifters. pm me on that too. May be selling NX kit, pm for more info....lmao

You are going to have to pull the heads and check the pistons for yourself. If you want to see for yourself beforehand, drain the oil, you should find some metal in there.

Will drain the plugs tonight, will have to work tomorrow so probably won't get around to pulling the heads til this weekend. I'll let you know what I find out and keep you updated. Hopefully it won't be too bad. What all do you have to do to take the heads off? It will be the passenger side, #7 hole did it. Remove the power steering pump, intake/exhaust manifolds, valve cover and is that it? Also I need new head bolts as well right? These are not reusable if I am correct. Is this a job I can handle w/o specialty tools? What do you think.

I'm assuming that you guys are right, put it on the scanner and it says #7 has had multiple missfires. I will keep you all up to date. the oil didn't have much of anything in it though. I'll take pics and post em as soon as I get the heads off. Prolly tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys.

I haven't had time to check it all out yet but if it is a piston, would changing to forged knock this problem out still spraying? Also, would this be the time to try and find a 6.0 and put my heads on em assuming they are still good? What would the horse power be roughly stock 6.0 and my heads? The only thing that I would have to change would be the oil pan right? Would computer and all still be ok or would I have to have it programmed w ls1edit or hptuners? Do I need the pcm from the vehicle it came out of or use my own from the ls1?
